Artist Statement

Simona Bortis-Schultz is a Romanian-American artist, illustrator and graphic designer originally from Arad, Romania. She finds inspiration in imperfect, spontaneous expression. She illustrates, creates monotypes and paints on occasion. Her love of mixing the organic and imperfect with structured or representational forms lends itself well to monotype gelli printmaking experiments.

Artist Bio

Simona's current focus is on illustration work aiming to capture the elusive magic and ethereal qualities of treasured stories. She aims to spread the magic of visual narrative via print, public art, children’s books, surface design, motion design, fine art and any other available mediums. Simona holds a double BA in Advertising and Visual Design, from the University of Oregon, and is currently pursuing an MFA at the Vermont College of Fine Art focusing on integrating illustration and design thinking.
