Mariel Herring '11:41 PM'

$0.00
NFS

11:41 pm, oil on linen, 12 by 12 in., 2015.

Artist Statement

My work is an exploration of latent memory, a reckoning with the trauma of legitimacy, an examination of where beauty and suffering collide, humor wrung out from depression, the honest efforts of a limited, struggling human being. I simultaneously reclaim my autonomy while tossing my hands up at the omnipotent power of the universe. I want to be real and I want you to love me. An artist seeking connection at the end of the world.

Artist Bio

Mariel Herring is an artist and carpenter who lives in South Philly with her dog Puzzle and her growing urban jungle. She has a BA from Earlham College as well as a Post-Baccalaureate and an MFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She hopes to one day build a house in the country to host an artist residency and sanctuary.
