Lydia Kinney 'Lily Pads'

$0.00
NFS

Lily pads, Acrylic on Panel, 2021.

Artist Statement

I paint spaces that do not and cannot exist. These environments are fragmented and disrupted to open their possibility: anything can happen in this space. These paintings are homes for tight spaces with detached floors, stars falling through skylights, and rooms just constructed enough to vacillate from images of interiors to paint for paint’s sake. I fully employ the freedom of these abstract spaces and their detachment from reality. The work is a reference point to my own discomfort and unease, an illustration of anxiety. These spaces visualize uncertainty in the search for exploring all possibilities.

Artist Bio

Lydia Kinney is a painter based in Greenfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2014 with a BFA in Painting, the recipient of department honors and the 2013 Rob Moore award. Lydia shows regionally throughout New England, often in the Pioneer Valley.
