Lindsy Davis 'Kozo Collage'

$0.00
NFS

Kozo Collage 11, Handmade Japanese Kozo, oil marker, envelope, backed with poplar wood. 5.5x4x1.5", 2018.

Artist Statement

I play with how the eye filters what the mind perceives as spacial depth. By using tonal shifts, varying mark-making gestures, and different paint finishes I demonstrate Gestaltism. Gestaltism is a psychological theory postulating that the mind uses negative space, shape association, and tonal cues to dictate depth and meaning through vision. My goal with this series is to experiment with what is necessary for the mind to see depth and decipher meaning.

Artist Bio

Lindsy Davis is an artist known for gesture and negative space work that push and pull the eyes’ perception of depth. Her compositions question ideas of perceived perception through Gestaltism. Lindsy has shown internationally, was a National Parks Artist in Residence, she is featured in collections throughout the nation, Canada and South Africa. Lindsy received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in 2014. She was raised in New Jersey and currently lives, works, and gardens in Nashville, Tennessee. Lindsy is represented by The Red Arrow Gallery in Nashville.
