Darian Longmire 'Yellow Spectrum'

$0.00
NFS

"Yellow Spectrum", acrylic, pastel, charcoal, mono print, collage on paper, 2021.

Artist Statement

I create multimedia works that deal with time and physics through a political lens. Rather than using cultural identity as a driving force for my practice, I instead choose to articulate the dichotomy of blackness through black holes and time warps. I view myself not as a revisionist but rather a remixer, dubbing, sampling and scanning from my archive to create a world of abstraction. I incorporate mixed media, print and analog processes as tools to grapple with the contested nature of the future. My works often employ layering, deterioration, digital manipulation and drawing.

Artist Bio

Darian Longmire is a conceptual artist from Chicago IL. He completed his MFA Candidacy in the upstate New York region at SUNY-Albany in 2018. After moving from the Midwest to the Northeast part of US, Darian began to combine his print based work, which explored physics, philosophy and outer space with wider ideas about time and space. Eventually discovering the close connection to sci-fi and technoculture, his research and ideas from the past have naturally developed into a larger artistic framework.
