Pandemic Postcard 08/04/2020, acrylic and gouache on paper collage, 6"x4".

Artist Statement

“I have been mining old work, recycling it by cutting it up and collaging it back together in a way reminiscent of quilt makers. This became especially important to me during the time of Covid when we were sequestered inside away from the familiar, and waiting for it to end. I began a series of small collaged works I call "Postcards From the Studio", each one titled Pandemic Postcard with the date on which it was made. I see my postcards as depicting a new space, as missives dispatched to a place beyond the confines of the current situation.”

Artist Bio

I received my MFA in 1982 from Hunter College and worked and showed my art for a number of years. I started a garden design business after my children were born in order to help support the family. I have since closed the business and retired, and resumed my art practice full time. I guess you could call me a re-emerging artist.
