Amber Koprin 'Where the Shadows Meet'

$0.00
NFS

Where the Shadows Meet, Gouache on Paper, 4" x 4", 2020.

Artist Statement

“I am infatuated with Midwestern houses, especially at night, when the contrast of the dark sky draws me in from a distance. I find allure in the sleekness of vinyl siding and the artificial color the grass emanates. Accompanying the vinyl siding and grass are other telltale suggestions of home – lawn chairs, fences, sidewalks, trashcans, hoses coiled carelessly in the shadows. Each visible element, illuminated in the darkness, holds a compelling position as if intentionally lit with a spotlight. In this way, each scene appears theatrically staged, carrying with it an inherent air of fiction and disbelief.”

Artist Bio

Amber Koprin is multi-media artist based in Detroit, MI. She received her MFA from Bowling Green State University in 2020 and continues to explore her infatuation with vinyl siding through the concept of desire. Outside of painting; she spends a lot of time watching horror movies, streaming Frasier, and reading.
