Artist Statement

My work is a reflection of what I see within this world and how my mind transforms it. Currently, my works explores my emotional attachment to water; water a reflective device that holds an image, even if only for a split second. I explore all the possibilities of its surface and translucency through color, shape and pattern with its ability to move or be moved as its manipulated. As I translate my physical and mental emotions, I extract shapes, patterns and colors as visual metaphors. I work to create a language of communication through the use of both physical and visual objects as they relate to the physical body and the emotional process of my mind’s thoughts and development.

Artist Bio

Amanda M. Kralovic B. 1981 Amanda Kralovic was born and raised in the Saratoga Springs, NY area. She graduated from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in May 2015 with her MFA in Printmaking. Before that she lived and worked in the city of Boston after attending and graduating in May 2004 from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in Studio Art/Illustration. Amanda was a competitive swimmer throughout her childhood and collegiate years. Much of her work is reminiscent of those years in the pool and her inspiration comes from her love of the water. Her recent work deals with the emotional and natural sensations of water as it moves through and around the body and mind portrayed through shape, pattern and color. Amanda has taught art at local universities including Middlebury College, SUNY Adirondack, Central Michigan University and University of Albany.
