Jackie Zysk, "Take Them With You"

$0.00
NFS

Resin, Mixed Media - Worry Stones: approx. 2" x 1.5" x 1.5" each, Display: approx. 5' x 12" x 12" - 2021 - NFS/Free to Viewer.

Artist statement

Reminiscent of candy bowls and 5-for-a-$1 toy barrels from my childhood, “Take Them With You” is designed to provide a nostalgic display that invites the viewer to shift through the pile of resin worry stones. Upon finding one they like, the viewer is encouraged to take the stone with them. The worry stones, objects specifically designed for anxiety relief and meditation, aim to provide the viewer with a future moment of leisure.

Artist bio

Jackie has previously described herself as an illustrator, a printmaker, and a thing maker. She earned her BFA from Sage College of Albany and her MFA from the State University of New York at Albany. A native of the Mohawk Valley, she currently lives and works in the New York Capital Region. Zysk has been an artist in residence at Salem Art Works (NY) and has previously shown at locations around the region, including Limner Gallery (Hudson, NY), The Hallway (Troy, NY), and the University Art Museum (Albany, NY).
