golden days- opening reception
Collar Works is proud to announce our new program Window Works, now on view featuring golden days, a site specific installation by Kelsey Renko.
roaming around the streets, walks along the hudson, the light that hits the windows at magic hour…
Inspired by the artist’s nostalgia for her time as a young artist in the city of Troy, golden days is an ode to community and belonging. Having spent much of her early career in the city of Troy (2011-2022), Renko recalls her time here with love and gratitude, rendered here in playful brushstrokes and brilliant color. Renko’s paintings dance carefully along the border between figuration and abstraction, exploring memory and an intimate connection to place. Imbued with the burgeoning possibilities and hopefulness of springtime, golden days offers the viewer a place to pause and experience the same warmth and beauty the artist found here.
Body Ajar- Opening Reception
Collar Works is proud to present Body Ajar, an exhibition featuring new work by Z. Cecilia Lu.
Body Ajar holds new sculpture and ceramics that explore the body as an assemblage of memories, environments, medicines, and desires; as contingent and dynamic; as a site for healing, regeneration, death, and decay. Traces of the body reverberate, meeting the echoes of other incantations — of ancient Chinese cooking vessels and cast jujube dates, cradled by clay and paper pulp, descendents of transformed earth. Body Ajar asks about possibility — and of what becomes through the cracks, holes, fissures, and pores.
