BIO
Kelsey Renko is a painter who lives in Kingston, NY. Kelsey received her MFA in 2023 at the University at Albany where she received the Terri Boor Graduate Fellowship. She received her BFA from the College of Saint Rose in 2015 where she was awarded the Ann & Matthew Forman Mataraso Fellowship, The Hy Rosen Award for Excellence in Drawing in Painting and The Service Award from the Esther Massry Gallery. In February of 2019 she was an artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson VT. From 2019-2023 Renko worked at the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College as the Student Art Loan Program Coordinator. Where she created Roommate, the Tang’s student art loan program which allows Skidmore students to borrow artworks from the museum to live within their home. From 2018-2021 Kelsey served on the Exhibition committee at Collar Works where she curated shows including a sensory show titled feel me. Kelsey was a founding member of the artist collective at The Church in Troy, NY where she hosted open studios, artists talks, exhibitions and more. Kelsey works as an artist assistant to Sarah Cain, where she has assisted on large scale, site-specific wall and floor paintings. Kelsey is an adjunct professor at The University at Albany where she teaches painting. Kelsey has exhibited widely within the Capital Region and Hudson Valley including, LABspace, Hillsdale, NY; Collar Works, Troy, NY; Albany Center Gallery, Albany, NY; Joyce Goldstein Gallery, Chatham, NY; The Melrose House, Albany, NY; Walter’s, Amsterdam, NY; Woodstock Artists Association and Museum, Woodstock, NY; Olympia Gallery; New York, NY; and The University Art Museum at UAlbany, NY. Kelsey has an upcoming residency in Buffalo, NY and an upcoming solo show at the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum.
