Zach Seeger 'Manhattan'

$0.00
NFS

Drawer 5- Manhattan, watercolor, 12” x 9,” 2020

Artist Statement

The work is personal, intimate, and the result of making art during the time of COVID. The poetic and somewhat autobiographic nature of my work has not changed, but the material, mediums, and scale have-the work is intentionally smaller, with the notion of being owned, enjoyed, and possessed by collectors who seek artwork that is free of institutional heaviness, with the lyricism and freedom of 19th-early 20th century French painting and the optimistic searching of early American modernists Okeefe, Burchfield, Hartley, and Avery.Artist Bio

Zach Seeger is a painter working in Brooklyn, NY. He received his BFA from Binghamton University and MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has exhibited at Arts + Leisure and Freight + Volume galleries, Crush Curatorial, stARTup Fair LA, Artspace Tetra in Fukoka, Japan, and Life on Mars Gallery, Brooklyn. He has taught 3D Design, sculpture, painting, drawing and graphic design at Brown University, Berkeley College and Binghamton University. He served the director of This Friday or Next Friday gallery in DUMBO, Brooklyn from 2013-2017, and currently teaches at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan.
