As a queer person who has often felt excluded from the mainstream, the natural landscape has been my way of feeling at home. I have invited other queer-identified people to experience this moment of freedom by being subjects in my photographic work. In nature, one often feels there is no determination of worth that the natural world releases upon our bodies. I use the natural landscape to act as powerful and meaningful liaisons between inner and outer identity in our gender and sexuality spectrums. Shooting in black and white acts to homogenize the subject and background.
