Mary Fleming, “Dukes Raised”

$0.00
NFS

paper pulp, reused material, acrylic paint

9”x5”

2022

STATEMENT

Fleming's paper pulp sculptures are emboldened objects from memory.

Building the armatures from reused materials, she creates intrigue of typically mundane commodities transforming natural symmetry and factory-finished objects into something slighty askew. A true fusion of human admiration of the machine made and the commercialization that we can get caught in.

BIO

Mary Fleming is a US born multi-media artist currently based in Richmond, Virginia. She trained and studied art throughout her youth and graduated from Craft & Materials Studies in the Fine Arts department of Virginia Commonwealth University. Fleming has a long history of working in the gallery field and art education. Currently her concentration is on sculpture works.
