STATEMENT

My current sculpture series projects neurotic behaviors into a nostalgic world of pop culture. A playful awkwardness is intended by the distortion of shape and size. My appropriation of vintage soda pop branding serves as a ruse for these neurotic inclinations. These perceptions loop, as if trapped inside a television set, constantly surfing through my past and present, meshing memory with reality and non-reality.

BIO

Amanda Michael Harris is a multidisciplinary artist from Memphis, Tennessee currently based in Troy, New York. She has exhibited works across the Capital District, including the Mohawk Hudson Regional, Albany Center Gallery, Saratoga Arts, The Arts Center of the Capital Region, Hudson Valley Community College, Collar Works and in Allentown, PA at Cedar Crest College. She received a fellowship to Penland School of Crafts in Medieval Bookbinding, a BFA in Printmaking & Papermaking from Memphis College of Art and a MS in Art Education from the College of Saint Rose. Harris teaches the visual arts in the Capital Region
